Global demand for ultra-luxurious armored vehicles has picked up in the last few years, growing by roughly 10 percent annually. German firm Alpha Armouring shows how it adds armor and bling to mom-friendly Mercedes-Benzs so they feel like VIP limos. HOUSTON (June 16, 2015) Federal investigators are trying to break Houston's reign as the nation's leader in armored car robberies and bank holdups. Statistics show that 11 armored trucks were robbed in Houston in 2013 and another eight last year. A growing number of celebrities and VIPs -- worried about kidnapping or violent attacks -- are demanding armored cars that are as luxurious as limos. Some companies that specialize in armoring vehicles say the luxury segment now makes up more than more .
